1980s Tomica Earth Fighter - Base Map

Product: Tomica Earth Fighter - Base Map (Japanese: トミカ アースファイター 基地マップ), released circa 1986-1987. A vinyl fold-out base scene map produced by TOMY for its original sci-fi rescue/defence series "アースファイター (Earth Fighter)", with the box carrying the classic white TOMY logo and old Tomica red label.

Where it was sold: A regular retail item in the 1980s, sold at toy stores and department stores in Japan and overseas, including Hong Kong department store toy counters and traditional model shops, available for direct purchase.

Today: A long-discontinued Showa / early Heisei era vintage toy that can only be found through second-hand collector stores, Yahoo! Auctions Japan, Surugaya and vintage toy fairs.

About the map: Themed around the Earth Fighter secret base, the map measures a generous 1,200mm x 900mm and is made of durable plastic/vinyl (ビニール製). It is finely illustrated with hangars, launch runways and cutaway views of the base interior for Earth Fighter vehicles and aircraft, letting players place the series' vehicles and jets on it to simulate base operations and sortie missions.

Note: As marked on the box (※トミカは入っていません), the Earth Fighter vehicles and aircraft shown in the box art are not included and must be purchased separately.
